They also work in the manufacturing sector. Here they, of course, use large mixing equipment so they can produce a high volume of whatever they are baking that day. Baking schools can help them learn how to use the large equipment. It can also help them to know how to take a recipe and make it large enough for the equipment.

There is other machinery involved in the manufacturing sector as well, but they do not usually have to work with that machinery.

A person must learn several skills in order to become a certified baker. Obviously, the baking schools have to teach basic baking, decorating and icing.

They also need to have some knowledge of the health regulations of the government. Business principles and ingredient knowledge is also taught at baking schools.

Baking schools have a curriculum that will teach the potential baker to use a variety of baking machines. You can be required to run high-speed equipment run by computers.

Besides what the professional baking schools can teach, an individual who wants to become a baker should be detail-oriented, have good communication skills and be able to follow instructions.

After completing the courses at one of the baking schools, an individual is usually hired as an apprentice in one of the local bakeries. This is a great way to get ready to become a baker's assistant.

A lot of the time, an apprentice baker will enroll in correspondence courses at one of the baking schools in order to become a certified baker.

Being a baker is a common profession among food processing jobs. Out of nearly 800,000 food processor jobs in 2002, believe it or not, about 175,000 of those people were bakers.
